Wok-Fried Chili Lemongrass Choi Sum


Spring is in the air, the perfect setting for the bright, citrusy notes of ginger lemongrass and sweet chili in this side dish featuring Chinese cabbage. It’s subtle and refreshing, making it a dinner must-have no matter what else is on the menu.

Calabash Ingredients

  • Choi sum

  • Ginger Lemongrass Seasoning

  • Sweet Chili Sauce

  • Fried shallots

You’ll Also Need

  • Salt and pepper

  • Vegetable or other neutral-flavored oil


  • Wok or large frying pan (12”)


  1. Wash and dry produce. Cut choi sum in half crosswise.

  2. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat.

  3. Add Ginger Lemongrass Seasoning and cook about 2 minutes, constantly stirring.

  4. Add choi sum and Sweet Chili Sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes, or until choi sum turns bright green.

  5. Taste and season with salt and pepper as desired.

  6. To serve, garnish with fried shallots.
